Ian Duncan Smith on the BBC Radio 4 Today show (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qj9z) claimed that autosave is unsecure, that by offering this feature, users could have their accounts hacked and information entered can be cloned.  He also suggested that this was designed by users (from user studies).

MWC is starting this week and it's looking increasingly unlikely (based on my own speculation) we'll have a new Windows Phone 8 flagship device announced from any of the main Microsoft manufacturers.

HTC and Sony have played their cards for their flagship android devices for the first half of the year (the One and the Xperia Z respectively), and we're still waiting to hear from Samsung about any Galaxy or Note follow ups.

As I said, I'm a sucker for marketing, so that while the One and Xperia Z have been announced, the differences to my phone usage (internet browsing, messaging, angry birds, news apps) won't change that much with these new flagships as to my old flagship, nor will it change very many other peoples use. However the public perception of seeing a new flagship, the hype around it, does mean most will be loking to them for their contract upgrades over the next few months.

I get the feeling Microsoft and it's WP8 partners want to ape Apple in some ways.  They want to release one flagship (per manufacturer) a year rather than a cavalcade of devices throughout the year. I really would like a Nokia 920, but it feels old compared to the Xperia Z and the One...

i don't get it

Is anyone out there doing development on an ultrabook/hybrid (hybrid being something like the surface pro or the Lenovo Carbon touch). Have you found any issues with development on these machines over the use of a standard laptop that doesn't have limitations of soldered ram and such?

He's trying to install itunes on tis PC, which he had done before but then uninstalled it and now has a problem with it. everytime he goes to install itunes it gets half way through before freezing and then eventually retuning an error about installing a MS VC 80 x86 assembly.

I have tried installing in admin mode but have had no luck with this. I have also downloaded one of the MS VC packages from the microsoft site and this also errors out with 1 second to go.

anything i might be missing?

There hasn't been any good excitement/speculation/rumours/etc etc in my feed for my liking, so who are you guys following? What are the active development blogs you're reading and more specifically, which ones are all about Build?

The 2 firms I have worked for haven't been pure technology companies, and despite IT being one of the major backbones they always seem to treat it like it's a 6th leg of a 4 leg table (because legal or someone is always the 5th leg).

As a CIO, Manager, developer or anything to do with IT, what do you do to encourage your company to talk about IT playing a serious part and becoming that 4th leg instead of the 3rd cousin twice removed?  Or am I the only person to feel like this?

I missed the output before, i am looping over the files, copying 100 files named after the 1st file, then onto the 2nd file copying 100 files named after the 2nd, and so forth... make it stop

Though you are right to an extent, it's not really the fault of the search engine, mainly the fault of the site editors and the titling of the sites and descriptions.

Microsoft owns the data, it can choose what to serve up and how.  I showed you the first 4 search results and none of them scream out that they're a powershell homepage where you can find out all the information that you list in your post.

Searching for Dogs on google and searching for Powershell on microsoft.com are very different because one company owns the data and the other doesn't.

Powershell is a Microsoft property, I'm searching from the main Microsoft site, not google, or askjeeves or twitter, but the actual main www.Microsoft.com site.  I don't see why I need to type in what you suggested to get to the powershell download site when powershell is the main keyword and the only keyword that matters.

@ScanIAm generally hits the nail on the head.  If you look at the search results I originally linked to.. which one of them actually says Download Powershell...

The 1st one says "Scripting with Windows PowerShell", I want to download powershell, i may want to script later but first i want to download it, so thats not an obvious first choice.

2nd Link is "Windows PowerShell Getting Started Guide", I might be able to download Powershell from here but still it's not an obvious link..

3rd Link is "Running Windows PowerShell Scripts", I doubt I can download it from here

4th Link is "Windows PowerShell".  This looks like the money shot, it looks like it has everything in the title that I want.  but where does it link you to... is it the download page? is it heck... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb978526.aspx what the hell is this? Still no download link on there.

I was discussing something this morning with one of my friends, he was showing me a new service... Now this is where you may say, well "service" and code reuse aren't really one in the same.. I disagree because most of these services are software based, a lot of them tend to provide functionality that can be used by outsiders.  Why do we create new photo sharing services when we have flickr, why recreate forum services when we have VBB (or whatever it's called).

Surely it would be better to reuse these existing services and then work with them to fill the holes we see missing in them.  I find it a little hypocritical to advocate code reuse when I'm busy rolling my own video sharing site.

using the code above, I want to insert the folder i'm currently in in %%G into the filename that is put in to destination in the xcopy. 

So it might be coming from: i:\w3svc98435783475\ex110430.log and i want it to end up as D:\ServerLogsAndBackups\IIS\w1\w3svc98435783475_ex110430.log

anyone got any ideas?
