How do I download the videos?

  • To download, right click the file type you would like and pick “Save target as…” or “Save link as…”

Why should I download videos from Channel9?

  • It's an easy way to save the videos you like locally.
  • You can save the videos in order to watch them offline.
  • If all you want is to hear the audio, you can download the MP3!

Which version should I choose?

  • If you want to view the video on your PC, Xbox or Media Center, download the High Quality WMV file (this is the highest quality version we have available).
  • If you'd like a lower bitrate version, to reduce the download time or cost, then choose the Medium Quality WMV file.
  • If you have a Zune, WP7, iPhone, iPad, or iPod device, choose the low or medium MP4 file.
  • If you just want to hear the audio of the video, choose the MP3 file.

Paul Sterling is the North America Lead for Umbraco, a free, open-source web cms built on the Microsoft ASP.NET Framework. Paul describes Umbraco as a great fit for developers that are building content-based websites and want to take web development to the next level. Paul and Brian also discuss how Razor (Razor requires Microsoft's .NET Framework in order to run) and WebMatrix have integrated with Umbraco. Umbraco uses web best practices, and, according to Paul, developers should feel "naturally at home with Umbraco."

Paul Sterling is a member of the Umbraco Core Team, a member of the company behind the open-source project, and has built several business based on Umbraco. He is committed to making Umbraco easy to use for web developers while keeping Umbraco's unlimited flexibility. Paul lives in Bellingham, WA where being a runner, beer-drinker, and web-geek does not attract much attention.

Brian Gorbett is a startup guy in Microsoft's Developer & Platform Evangelism (dpe) division, responsible for engaging partners and customers around developer tools and platform technologies. An active developer and technologist, Gorbett has contributed to national publications on Microsoft technologies and still codes on a daily basis. Before joining Microsoft, Gorbett managed a team of developers and designers responsible for delivering next generation rich internet applications.
