Something went wrong getting the Visual Studio Achievements
We just released a feature that integrates MSDN profile information directly into Channel9. Now, for any niner that has an MSDN account, Channel9 shows that user's MSDN statistics – points earned in the MSDN profile system, badges, and links to their MSDN activity page and profile – both on hover of that user's avatar and on the users profile page.
Here's a screenshot of the UI that shows up when you hover over a user on Channel 9:
This new UI surfaces more than just their MSDN reputation though; it also brings up the user's Channel 9 stats and Visual Studio Achievements, perfect for the active community member who wants to show off his points.
We've already linked all users who have a corresponding profile on MSDN and we do this lookup for all new users, but if anyone wants to opt-out that is as easy as a quick click in their own 'hover box' or on their profile page.
Check it out for yourself in any Channel 9 forum thread, or in the comments on any videos.

Links in the popup are broken.
And why would you turn it on by default?
@Maddus Mattus:Thanks for letting us know about the links, we are getting that fixed, hopefully resolved during the day tomorrow.
As for turning it on by default, that wasn't the original plan, but we decided that very few people would notice the option and enable it if we left it off to start with. And since we are a Microsoft site, and the contents of your MSDN profile are all publically visible across a set of other Microsoft sites, that linking this together for everyone by default would be nothing but a positive for our users. Having said that, if someone doesn't want this, it is very easy to turn off without even having to go to your profile page... the toggle button is right in the hover box.
Let me know what you think about the feature and this decision, either here or via email, thanks
@Duncanma: Ah, but the link between my Channel9 account and my MSDN is not public, now it is.
The feature is very cool, but I do wish you would have turned it off by default.
I like it.
All very lovely and that, but can you walk down the hall to Team MSDN and write a proper comments editor for the MSDN docs community section at the bottom? It's been too hellish to use for about 6 years now. It doesn't like Chrome and it barfs on code.
Microsoft needs some kind of system for managing long-running bugs. When a problem lasts years, we notice. We think, sheeze, this is a company that has incredible resources but doesn't care about quality.
For example, going off topic, Outlook has had that problem where the font randomly turns to Times New Roman since the product was invented in 1997. You can't let irksome experience bugs run for 15 years. Not in Apple era.
@LukePuplett: different team mate
