You are at work, browsing Channel 9 and you see this great episode of Defrag has just been published on Channel 9… but you work in a cubicle and if you lean back and watch a 30 minute video, you’d probably get fired. What to do? You could email the link to yourself as a reminder to watch it later, but that’s so low tech… and what if you want to build up a list of videos to watch over an upcoming holiday? Or maybe you are about to have some elective surgery and would like to get through all 127 episodes of Ping! while you are on morphine?
Never fear, there is a new feature on Channel 9 just for you… “My Queue”
Below each video, if you are signed in, is a new button ‘+ queue’, which adds the video to a special list just for you!
Click the button and it changes to a little green arrow to show that you’ve put this into your queue, then jump over to your profile and you’ll see a new tab
You can re-order the items, remove them … see how much of a video you’ve watched (tracked across multiple machines, by the way) … and subscribe to your queue using a special private RSS feed (perfect for plugging into Zune and sync’ing with your phone or just pulling the files locally to watch in high def)
Lots of items in your queue? Sort by show to see a handy list grouped by the show/series/blog/event
Let us know what you think and how you are planning to use this new feature!

Awesome!
Now just one question - will it automatically start playing the next one when one finishes? ... for example I like to watch channel 9 when I'm on my treadmill - but if the show is too short then i have to hop off the treadmill to start another.
Duncan, providing a personal podcast feed elevates this to awesome. Thank you.
Sweet! Tie the RSS in to Media Center and this is going to rock!

C9 just gets better and better!
If I don't see any of those buttons in my profile, does it mean that I'm a second class citizen?
UPDATE: Interesting, after my first comment the buttons appeared... seems to be a (cosmetic) bug.
This is great, thank you for adding this feature. Now please add support so that I can watch my channel 9 queue from my Xbox 360.
I don't see Queue tab in Profile...
UPD.: now I do.
Excellent stuff!
Great!
Great feature!
I can't see the Queue tab in my profile though, even after adding a few videos to my queue. Let's see if it appears after writing my first comment on the site.
EDIT: That worked, thanks for the tip, gik.
Thanks all for pointing out that commenting turns on the profile tabs!
@gelatus - agreed, this needs to automatically feed my Xbox!
@joeparis: we'll fix the 'need to comment to see queue' issue right away
As far as using this feed on your XBox, I'll see what I can do to document the various way you could make that happen!
This, a thousand times this.
For folks that are interested in watching their queue on the XBox 360, then I think the instructions here http://channel9.msdn.com/coding4fun/blog/BUILD-in-your-Media-Center-with-MediaBrowser (based on the same technology as Ian's link: http://websurfaces.co.uk/2011/09/07/video-podcasts-on-tv/) would be enough to get you started. This assumes a PC in the house running Media Center and then either connecting to Media Center from your Xbox 360, or watching directly in Media Center. Of course, you could also subscribe to your personal feed in Zune if you wanted to sync the videos to your Windows Phone or even just download them to watch locally.
I think this is great ! And as a bonus this comment should enable the tabs in my profile
So also thanks for the other commenter's who pointed out the way to make the tabs visible.
Great Feature!
@KeesDijk: Sorry about the hassle there, but that bug has *now* been fixed and everyone should be able to see their queue without having to have made a comment or forum post
Just another follow up comment here folks. If you want to subscribe to your own personal feed, you can either use the default link we give you (like mine):
http://channel9.msdn.com/Niners/Duncanma/Queue/189a8ae4543d448ca0ecdea0d10ab5c1/RSS/
or you can append a 'format' after the RSS to request a specific type of file
http://channel9.msdn.com/Niners/Duncanma/Queue/189a8ae4543d448ca0ecdea0d10ab5c1/RSS/WMVHigh (HD WMV, best for watching on a TV for example)
http://channel9.msdn.com/Niners/Duncanma/Queue/189a8ae4543d448ca0ecdea0d10ab5c1/RSS/MP4High (our highest quality MP4)
http://channel9.msdn.com/Niners/Duncanma/Queue/189a8ae4543d448ca0ecdea0d10ab5c1/RSS/MP4(our lowest quality MP4, targeting iPod touch / iPhone)
http://channel9.msdn.com/Niners/Duncanma/Queue/189a8ae4543d448ca0ecdea0d10ab5c1/RSS/MP3 (audio only)
and yes, these links will let you see my personal queue... which I could fix by hovering over the (?) symbol and clicking "Get New Feed URL", which would change my feed URL and render those links unavailable. I won't do that though, feel free to subscribe to my queue, it isn't all that interesting
@Jason Haley: No, it won't. That is a good feature idea and it was on our list, but it has been pushed out to a future release at this point.
Nice feature. Could you add a column in the queue list showing the length of the video (to make it easier to pick one you have time to see if you only have a limited time)? Is there any way to add a whole show (series such as Ping or TWC9) automatically to your queue? It would also be nice if you could show some indicator when listing shows (such as on the View all page http://channel9.msdn.com/Browse/AllContent) that you have already added a show in the list to your queue without having to click through to each episode individually. Thanks!
The queuing feature is awesome! Next step Channel 9 Xbox app and I am going to watch you guys day and night!
Nice feature! C9 is great
It would be nice if you could set my favorite recurring shows to automatically add new episodes to my queue.
[Update] OR... I could just subscribe to the RSS feed with Zune.
@DBNickel: We are looking at that as a future feature... but it raises the complexity significantly as we'd go from just adding to a data store based on user action to reacting to all newly published items, checking a 'subscription' list then adding to the queue... definitely something we'd like to see though!
Sweet! thank you for adding this feature. I can watch my channel 9 queue from my Xbox 360.
This is such an amazing story. I will bookmark it for more updates.
