Hey Charles, amm when you get a chance.. can you ask them about what they are planning about the performance of UI?

I understand performance of javascript and rendering is important, but all these things are already good enough for me in IE8. What I /really/ want is new tabs popping up instantly (now you have to wait one second or more just so that tab shows in the tab
bar), IE not half-freezing if internet connection becomes a bit slower and similar.

Will do. Good question!

To be clear, these conversations are focused on the platform preview bits you now have in your hands - remember that this is not IE 9 the application, but rather an early look at the IE9 dev platform. I know you understand this. I want to reiterate it anyway.

Thanks. The camera work and production magic is the work of Michael O'Neill, our resident film pro. We will be doing a lot more work together. He's got mad skillz.

One factor, though, is IE9's release schedule. Microsoft reps were completely noncommittal about when the browser would be released, in either a beta or final version. Given the frequency with which we see new editions of Firefox and
Google Chrome, it's conceivable that another browser could come out with hardware acceleration before anyone gets a chance to use IE9.
