MIX co-creators Jennifer Ritzinger (she owns the conference), Mike Swanson (he owns keynotes and overall strategy) and Thomas Lewis (he owns the MixOnline site and contributes to the strategic planning of the Mix conference and community) sit down with me to discuss the philosophy and purpose of MIX: How has MIX evolved since it's inception in '06? Have we strayed from the original intention? What was the original intention? Does the conference live to its noble intentions of providing content that is pertinent to both developers and designers of the web? Has it become too dev focused? What's the thinking behind MIX09, specifically? What's the overall goal of the upcoming MIX conference? I act as inquisitor in this conversation, asking some tough questions that only these three can answer.

MIX09 could very well be the best MIX yet, harkening back to its roots and providing both an experience and knowledge that should thrill both web developers wo write code and designers who think up and create the experience of the web.

Why? We can always link to them when they are posted. We feel that since we have multiple sites that target different audience segments it makes good sense to supply the right content on the right site. http://2009.visitmix.com is the de facto home for all things MIX09. Further MixOnline (http://visitmix.com/) is a great site with ambitious goals and lots of very useful content (and in some cases custom tools) for the DeveloperDesigner and Designer. We want to respect this differentiation and help great content and information reach the right people.

ooo more onlinestuff would be awsome with the economy and over all pressure on the company i work a, i wont be leaving my desk a whole lot so more online stuff would be great for me

live sessions and would be able to ask questions online (live during the session) would be really cool

There is not enough content on that site for me to visit it regularly. The main site has 4 articles and the 2009 site has 3 or 4 videos.

I was at MIX06 and there was an incredible community atmosphere there that has been lost.

Hi Eagle, curious as to your comment regarding the community atmosphere. Do you mean at the physical event? What do you feel has changed? Is it the vibe or is it specific things we did there that you didn't see last year?

I was told I was not going mostly because: MVP Summit is March 1-5th and MIX09 is March 18-20th, someone should have spread these out better!!!

I went to MIX08 and it was great! Really disappointed I had to pick between MVP Summit and MIX09.
