When we launched Channel 9 five years ago we weren't sure what to expect from the community and from Microsoft. What would developers think of this non-corporate, free wheeling website designed by and for geeks and developers (and one great designer, David Shadle - designer of the 9 Guy and first iteration of Channel 9)? Did we do the right thing? Will Channel 9 be taken seriously? Are we crazy? Well, history has answered these questions and the next five years will be very interesting indeed. I thought I'd pay a visit to my friend, fellow Niner and co-conspirator Jeff Sandquist. I don't think I've ever really interviewed him. 5 years!!! Wow.

Happy Birthday, Niners!!! Here's to another 5 great years!!

wow what a line up: anders, eric, brian, mark, larry, eric lippert, bill, soma and even his awsomeness the Gu its really great to see that channel9 is as popular inside microsoft as it is with us niners speaks volumes of your, jeffs and the teams work on channel9

Ritzi sure did! But I see your point. My fault. I set up the BDay interviews and wanted to stick to 9 C9 stars + Jeff for symmetric reasons ( 9 on 9).

You know what could be great fun, Charles, is to get all the non-Microsoft niners together that've got something to say about Channel 9 and what it's meant to them over the past five years, and put it in one place.

I remember the first video I watched, besides the intro, and even before that it was called "VB TV". I'm so happy you guys didn't give up. I consider C9 "youtube for geeks".

That would be amazing. How about putting the videos on YouTube and posting them in a thread here in the Coffeehouse, call it Niners on 9. I bet most Niners have a way of recording their own videos.

5years! well congratulations guys, its good to see c9 has kept true to its original vision... and I have to say c9 has been a good bar to come to for general MS product discussion and errm vented feedback ...and its also good to see abit of that old video style you did for the start of the vid(office drop in style)

To the previous poster, I wasn't in WM_IN but I'm a woman program manager interviewed on the 9 twice so far so maybe that counts . And I've been stoked to see Ch. 9 and the little 9 guy succeed throughout its whole tenure (which sorta coincided with my entire tenure at Microsoft, come to think of it).

Congrats Channel 9 guy! May you get a big 5 year crystal as well!
