The team that builds Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals (or “DBPro” for short!) has been hard at work on a service release and a set of power tools that add new functionality to DBPro. For this interview we asked Gert Drapers, the software architect for the DBPro team, to show us the new features of these releases. Gert has been working at Microsoft since 1991, having spent most of his career on the SQL Server team. If you like the SQL Query Analyzer, Gert is the guy to thank!

Do you mean provide wma and mp3 files? These were not created for this, but they can be. Certainly, the download wmv includes an audio track...

The download link to the wmv does not seem to have an audio track. Or it does not seem to work. Normally there is a windows media 9 video track and a windows media 9 audio track.

EDIT: Windows Media Audio Voice 9 20 kbps, 22.05 kHz, mono does not seem to work for me.

What is the difference between the voice codec and the regular audio codec, besides the obvious?

Hi Josh - I am at a loss for why this isn't working for you. Can you try another PC? Do you have the latest and greatest version of Windows Media Player installed? Does the "inline" video player work with audio for you?

I've tried as many machines as I can get my hands on and they all work fine for me... the only thing I can guess is that your WMP is not configured to automatically download new audio codecs. Under Tools -> Options please ensure that "Download Codecs Automatically" is enabled.

If that doesn't do the trick feel free to email me directly - briankel AT microsoft DOT com. I want to get this working for you!

If anybody else is having this problem please let me know, too.
