Recently, Microsoft and UGS announced a new business partnership and strategic alliance. What does this mean? Well, for one thing, it means that UGS has direct access to the brains behind the products they rely
on to conduct their business successfully. Of course, this interests Channel 9 (not that the business stuff doesn't, but we like technology here)In this interview, you will meet David Mitchell, Vice President, Technology Officer, UGS, and SQL Server development lead and query optimization guru, Conor Cunningham. Also present as moderator of the discussion is Abel Cruz, a Program Manager in the ISV division
(the business guy). We talk about the implications of SQL 2005 on UGS success as well dive into other technical aspects of the UGS/Microsoft alliance. This is a frank and open discussion with an enterprise customer who relies on our platform and technologies to be successful.

Sorry to say, and guy's don’t take this wrong but, this is the closest you have managed to come toward a late night infomercial. I'm honestly interested in SQL Server, and how it’s used, but way to evangelistic for me. I cut if off after 7min’s.

I love all the other videos, and look forward to many more. Just wanted to say what was on my mind.

No offence to anyone in the video of course.

You should watch deeper into the video. We do get more technical... Any time you have a customer in an interview, there is the chance for infomercialness. That said, it's nice to see how the technologies we create are being used in the real world.

I did get a lead dev involved in the interview! Gotta give it up for that

Thanks for the feedback! We'll continue to evolve.
C

Channel 9 interviews are conversations. The focus of the interviews are the interviewees, not me. I like to let them guide the conversation. My approach is ask a question, have a chat about it. The conversation happens from there. It's hard to not provide

It was an announcement, for sure, but the conversation was more than just hype. I understand it's not representative of typical C9 coverage and it does not mean we are changing how we do things.

I guess this was a failed experiment for C9 content, eh? Personally, I was thrilled to see a real world enterprise customer truly excited about our technology and expousing this excitement to one of the developers who wrote a piece of the technology.

C
posted by Charles

Ok. this make more sense when you put it like that. I guess my only comments is that sometimes the interviews...I mean "conversations" tend to drift.
