With its powerful 3D capabilities WPF provides a leap forward in user experiences; but how do you create compelling 3D models and then make them available to your applications? In this Channel 9 video, Microsoft UK’s Richard Godfrey interviews the developers
of Shaxam (www.shaxam.com) about their experiences and approach to building a Lightwave 3D to XAML convertor. Michael Stocking, Mark Hennessy-Barrett, Alex Young and Steve Kennett have all played a part in creating a friction-free
way of building impressive WPF applications using complex 3D geometries such as the human heart shown in this clip...

You're not being rude, and I agree with you. If you ask me, I think of some of the most amazing programmers I know of come from other countries (why, I dunno).

Keep in mind my closing comment on my initial post - "Regardless, this is good stuff" was essentially what I said.

I don't expect all great things to come from America, quite the contrary sometimes

Regards,
Jonathan Sampson

posted by jsampsonPC

I've repeatedly jumped into Maya over the past 6 years. Each time I spend about 6 months of creative-construction, and then lose interest. I can't seem to mimic my passion for programming with my desire to do 3d The only 3d I've done in the last year was
OpenGL...and that wasn't exactly enjoyable for me

posted by jsampsonPC

 Hi all,

Just thought I'd leave a quick note - I've just uploaded the first public build of our free XAML exporter plugin for LightWave Modeler 9. You'll find it at
http://www.shaxam.com. It does what you see in the video, with the exception of not needing a round trip to the web server.

There are many more details in the README.txt that comes with the download - if you're using LightWave 9 and you're working with EID, you should check it out.

Thanks,
--
Alex

posted by alex@shaxam.com
