Or does the search box in the start menu only search through start menu items?
It sounded like Shanen said that the New York Times WinFX application has been featured in another video... Any idea which video or when we get to see the application without the glare?
I'll try to track down when we will have some more info about that demo up, and don't worry we'll get some better footage without the reflection
Update: here is some info on that Times app... I'm still looking to the possibility of demo... and my apologies again about the glare, I'm new to this whole video thing
Vista is great. Beta 2 might be a little bit buggy, but the final version is going to be great.
Great overview of vista, but I wonder why he has all this laptops above his desk.
The application was briefly shown off in the Bill Gates keynote from WinHEC 06. It was shown by Mika?, moments before Shanen was also on stage.
Same issue here.
It is unfortunate WMP lacks the most basic audio controls... The balance control is slightly different control from a pan control like noted.
However there's a workaround: Go to "SRS WOW Effects" (whatever that is), click "Turn on" and then move the WOW Effect to left.
Raise your hand if you know what is SRS WOW without going to look it up...
Sorry about that folks, I was using a mono Mic into a stereo camcorder input... all fixed now for the next video, but sorry for the single channel audio on this and a couple of the other videos I've done lately.
I am a bit puzzled about the other comment though, that his voice is too quiet, it sounds fine when I play it through so I'm not sure what some folks are running into.
The app was also shown during Bill Gates' keynote at the American Society of Newspaper Editors:

Great video. However, I noticed that they stated that MSDN and TechNet users can use the Beta 2 right away. I know that MSDN can download the software, but I have yet to see an option for TechNet Plus users to be able to download the Beta 2. Am I missing something, or is it only available to MSDN and the Beta users?
Hi there,
I'm new to Channel9. First of all I would like to say, wow... what a great initiative this is!
In the video Shanen is talking briefly about the improved "help center" and mentions that there are developer tools for it.
Is there a place where I can find more information on this particular part of Vista?
Best regards,
Maik
Yeah, it is a common feature - it's been in media player since version 9... I think? Some hardware devices also incorporate the wow technology. But I agree that you shouldn't ned 'work-arounds' in wmp.
You just go to the 'View' menu -> enhancements -> SRS wow effects.
Anyone?
Maik
pete
still no usb support for my belkin wireless device

not even a beta driver
I really want to know...
Three or four times I requested the above information. No repsonse of the author.
Pff...
