As a developer, one of the common tasks that you do is move code around. In this video, I'll demonstrate how using the Outlining Expansion feature in Visual Studio makes it a whole lot easier to copy and paste entire methods or classes. The trick is using the CTRL+M, CTRL+M shortcut key to collapse bodies of code first. Enjoy the video!

I gave this video a thumbs down and I wanted to give an explanation.  Although the video has high production value.  I feel that it was a waste of time to watch a video on basic clipboard functionality as it relates to the collapsing and expansion of code blocks.

With that said, the title and description are accurate.

wow.. I usually just read the description and move on if that particular video is not for me.    I am sure this little tidbit could help somebody else out.    Everything on Channel 9 is not tailored to you specficially.

When presented with this tool, the thumbs up (Awsome) or the thumbs down (Meh), I feel obligated to use it.  The opinions that I express are my own and represent 33% of the thumb tally thus far.  Perhaps my input could be used to alter the trajectory of future screencasts.

I saw this the other day but did not comment. I used to be big on keyboard actions/shortcuts etc but that has fallen away and I was so very happy to see this video. Although I knew that large regions could be treated this way, I hadn't know this worked for just one method. Excellent post, thanks. I was just wondering if there are any more like this!!

  • Good video.   I don't need to learn something huge and mind shattering all the time.   Thumbs up.

  • Can you add a tag like "basic"?  I am a huge keyboard shortcut fan and spent 3 minutes to see nothing special...
