I will expect the answer to be: "yes, sir, we will fix it now sir"

although it would be funny to read how you would try explain how a crappy video interface is "by design"

or how not letting the user choose between flash, html5, silverlight is a "good user experience"

meh, channel9 is still too much microsoft as in too much pr bs, too much talk about microsoft specific tech.

I would have liked channel9 to be neutral as in no hidden agendas or pr force feeding, etc. but it's microsoft so i guess it's like asking a politicians to tell the truth 

btw why is channel 10 closing down ?

While using raster graphics, this will always eventually be a problem, even if they used a copy that was 8 times the resolution that is resized with CSS. The alternative is using SVG or Silverlight, but neither one is available on all machines that will be visiting the site.

I've only rarely seen this in Internet Explorer on one old PC and on that same computer Silverlight works in Opera, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Requiring Silverlight to play a simple video is not any kind of a fail, much less epic. Silverlight is just as worthy of being installed as Java or Flash. Yes, an optional HTML5 video player would be nice if people are using a browser that is compatible, but Silverlight allows for a good pinnable player that serves the regular users of this site functionality that we've asked for.

If your computer has somehow mangled Silverlight or won't let you install it (if you're on a device like the iPad, etc.), just click on one of the media links to the right of the video.

As far as I know the latest stable release was Moonlight 2 which only provides Silverlight 2 compatibility, while Moonlight 3, which is still alpha quality, will only provide Silverlight 3 compatibility.

If the Channel9 video player is a Silverlight 4 app, Moonlight users may have problems running it.
