We all seem to collect boatloads of media- be it photos, movies, music, etc.- and with so much media it seems a shame to only have it viewable from one location. Enter the Media Center Extender. Granted, these have been around for a while and anybody with an Xbox 360 knows the joys it can truly bring. Here we give you the latest and greatest Media Center Extenders available to you and your family this holiday season.

I would buy another Xbox 360 before I bought an extender, but that’s just me.

Extenders and all this tech are absolutely fantastic, and I and many of my friends wish they could go and purchase the machines- problem being MS has not addressed the service providers over here- Sky and Virgin Media are the UK's biggest Pay-TV services and neither will work with a Media Centre PC in the way that it is possible in America.

Microsoft is supposed to be trying to get into the living room but that really won't work until they offer a compelling reason to use their software- they need to talk to the guys with the content!

That's kind of what I was thinking but there are some scenarios where it doesn't make sense.
    - If you're going to be watching HD wirelessly. Xbox doesn't have a high speed wireless solution right now, you can't send high def through the existing wireless connection (I'm told).
    - If you're buying a new TV, the new HP TV has extender built in. I could see my next TV being a stand-alone extender (especially if there's no coax cable jack around where I put it.)
    - If you want an always-on totally-silent solution. I really wouldn't want to leave an Xbox on all the time if I didn't have to.
