The first game played on PC Flight Sim 3.0, funny how much has stayed the same in that program.

You know - just like the little map in the corner of your screen in video games. It shows where you're at, what direction your heading, and shows nearby locations and goodies. Keeps track of your travel automatically.

Anytime you cover aviation and avionics, you're covering a subject very near and dear to my heart. I grew up playing microsoft flight simulator and my love for aviation was a big factor in my decision to enlist in the Air Force where I work with...avionics and instrumentation. I am still a rabid fan of microsoft flight sim. Any news on when FSX will finally land?
...and the Sopwith Camel better be in it!

I'd like a mini map in the corner of my car's windshield.
So would I. A dash mounted GPS is pretty close now a days.

Very nice segment, Laura.
It has been a LONG time, since I played Flight Simulator. I should checkout that series, again. They should make a Xbox 360 version.
Anyway, the tablet stuff is interesting. Pretty sweet technology, indeed.
Although, I must say that flying a plane, while trying to use a tablet, I guess wouldn't be as dangerous, as someone trying to drive, while talking on a cell-phone. Imagine someone trying to drive, while using a tablet...
BTW, have we been having some kick-* weather lately, or what?

Post them on Flickr tagged with "on10", and we'll pull them off there and link them on the Downloads page.
Thanks, yeah Laura´s expression there is priceless!

I notice that we don't have last week's yet. I haven't watched any of them, yet. Is there really extra footage and easter eggs, like they promise? Or do they just string the shows together?

Simply awesome Max! Can you let us know how you made these? Are you digitally painting screen caps or are you baking thee from scratch. This is the enthusiast’s network and I enthused to know more!
Good thing Duncan shaved his chest a few days before the shoot or the raw testosterone would have blown the monitor. Happens all the time over him.

Last wallpaper Maxwell said it was a combination of the tablet and original pictures. The thing is i just want to know how also. Do you just directly paint over the images? Either way no matter what you do its cool.

Thanks Chris & Scott!
I guess digital painting would be the best description. As you say, I illustrate the screenshots, which is fun, but depending on the quality of the given ss it can be quite difficult. A higher res video would help. Yours was a an example of that. On some I have to use different parts to get the composition I need. Add a few touches here and there and voila! Glad you like them.
I hope Duncan doesn´t mind me having used that shot.

Yes, the weather has been rocking lately. It's gorgeous today!
Flight Sim is a milestone marker for the advancement of windows technology.
I am horrible at the game but i will always love it.

You can watch week 5's video. There are bloopers in between the videos (and at the end). Week 6's video will have them too.
Duncan, are you kidding!?! He's already having T-shirts made up. The sleeveless kind at that. Tina digs them.

Heehee. Awesome. A fanboy loves nothing more than a good blooper reel. Keep 'em coming.

Gah...I miss seattle..., anyway, does that Voyare tablet program download all planes in the sky too? and if so, have they caught anything in the sky that... shouldn't have been there? actually, would they even be allowed to tell us?

Good Show. I Enjoyed It.

Will do! Adam's working on the week 6 video right now...
Scaled properly, that will make for an excellent shirt. Tina looks good in sleeveless shirts.

Wow, that is some great stuff, Maxwell.
So, you draw the ss and then you paint them in some kind of software program?
What program(s) do you use?
How many hours did you put into this? How does it take to finish one ss?

Thanx V360.

I grab a ss from the video and then work on it in Photoshop.
During the week/s I select and grab the ss´s and start ilustrating them. Each ss can take up to a couple of hrs, depending on it´s quality and how quickly I find what I´m looking for. During the weekend I put the whole thing together. It takes time, but it´s fun.

So with this kind of technology we shouldn't have to worry about any Emelia Earhart incidents ever again right? Hope not, anyway Laura you've been really into the flight technology stuff lately. Any interests in becoming a pilot yourself? Well as long as you don't fly it like you did at the end of the segment, little harsh on the wheel there. You do that in the air, you're gonna have a bad time.

It's everywhere.

Excellent work for sure! And truly amazing detail in your design Max...

I wish I had a tablet PC and a in car navigation system - a guy can dream I guess! Maybe one day, it is only money after all. The idea of an on-windshield display with realtime data does sound very cool and I am sure it will happen eventually - that is the beauty of technology!

Pretty cool! But don't you have any bloopers that are more embarrasing? Doesn't anyone ever mess up their lines? Doesn't anyone snort when they laugh?

As for snorting, I haven't seen any yet, but if we do, you know it's going in there.
I don't remember for sure, but I thought there were some lines being messed up in one of the Week 6 or Week 5 videos.
