How do I download the videos?
- To download, right click the file type you would like and pick “Save target as…” or “Save link as…”
Why should I download videos from Channel9?
- It's an easy way to save the videos you like locally.
- You can save the videos in order to watch them offline.
- If all you want is to hear the audio, you can download the MP3!
Which version should I choose?
- If you want to view the video on your PC, Xbox or Media Center, download the High Quality WMV file (this is the highest quality version we have available).
- If you'd like a lower bitrate version, to reduce the download time or cost, then choose the Medium Quality WMV file.
- If you have a Zune, WP7, iPhone, iPad, or iPod device, choose the low or medium MP4 file.
- If you just want to hear the audio of the video, choose the MP3 file.
Right click “Save as…”

The BlueHat conference is an internal MS conference that's all about security. We ship a bunch of security experts from around the world to Redmond and then learn whatever
we can from them.
This is the first video in the series. It's with Robert Hansen - a very interesting human being I'd like to interview again.
Interviews like this are my favorite. I've always seen security as drudgery. It's necessary, but it's not at all fun. At least not the way I was doing it.
I didn't expect much, to be honest. I thought I'd get in, hear a few stories about SQL injection, and then be done with it. What I got was, on a scale of 1 to 10, a chat that was infinity + 1 awesome.
I had no idea how far security goes. I had read books about people like Kevin Mitnik, Pengo, and more, but this was the first time I'd ever met someone who really does this stuff (well, at least since my BBSing days - I knew a few people back then who knew a thing or two about security
).
Enjoy, people. I bloody well did. There's some background noise, and I apologize for that - in the process of getting a proper mic setup for these videos - but you can still hear him.

The audio was very low (At least with my computer at max volume), one person was off screen and lots of background chatter.
You rarely see IT type security videos on Channel 9.
I wish we could see more videos related to the IT type security field, on C9.
Rory, I love you in front of the camera, but the audio on this video could be better.
Give your old pal Carl Franklin a call and ask him about how important audio is to a podcast or video. I am sure he will have some constructive suggestions.
I could not agree with Carl more.
Idea: Why don't you interview him for Channel 9?

Plus why was the third person (who's name , I'm sorry to say, has eluded me already) off camera? (aside from hiding from the mafia) It was a bit odd to watch everyone listening intently off camera. If you're going to have an audio presence you need a video one too, no hiding!
Good stuff though, hope you met plenty more fascinating people and videod them. (isn't videod an odd word, is it video'd or videoed...)
Yeah. The audio sucked. I know that. Wrote about it in the post for the video.
The people who invited me to cover the event didn't have a room, or even a space, set aside for doing the interviews, so we had to do them right out in the lobby of the building we were in, and there were people all over the place.

I've done enough recording to get the whole audio thing - just don't have the equipment. There's a trade-off here - the camera I'm using is compact and records straight to hard drive, which shaves a lot of time during production.
I'm going to look into what I can do to get better audio. I'd to get some wireless lapel mics, but I don't know if they'll work with the camera.
If I can't find anything, I've already gotten permission from the boss to get new equipment.
We'll see what happens...

The conference people insisted on having someone from their own team present. They were nice about, but it shouldn't have happened - it's not the 9 Way.
The problem is that it's really hard to get more than two people in frame with this camera without having back way up. That would have made the audio even worse.
I've been struggling over the proper verb. "Videoed" keeps entering my head, but it sounds too weird. I've started to say "film," which make no sense, but at least I don't feel awkward
