Application Lifecycle Management with Visual Studio Online (or on-premise Team Foundation Server) is all about leveraging an integrated toolset to manage your software projects from planning and development through testing and deployment. As a core part of Visual Studio Online, the Test Hub offers the right set of features to plan, organize, create, run and track your manual tests. With web based test management, cross platform support has never been better – you can create and run tests on any platform with all major browsers supported. Another aspect of a good test tool is end to end traceability. Requirement based suites enable end to end traceability by linking user stories to test cases and bugs filed while testing the user stories. Testers spend considerable effort in creating test cases, and creating test cases with the Excel like 'Gird' makes test authoring activity a breeze. If you have a bunch of test steps that are common to multiple test cases, you can use 'Shared steps' to share such steps across test cases. Similarly, you can share test data across multiple test cases with 'Shared parameters'. The 'Web test runner' walks you through each of the test steps and when you stumble on an issue you can file bug right way. Tracking test progress for your team is possible with lightweight charts, that display test status metrics in real time. Finally, you can review your tests with external stakeholders by exporting test plans or test suites via Email or printing documents.
