Silverlight bringt seit der Version 4, Out-Of-Browser-Meldungen mit. Diese Funktion erlaubt es in dem rechten unteren Bereich des Bildschirms, außerhalb der eigentlichen Anwendung, Meldungen darzustellen. Diese Funktion kennt man in der Regel von Outlook.
Wenn Anwendungen also Out-Of-Browser laufen, können sie mit wenigen Zeilen Code Meldungen an den User schicken ohne die ihre Anwendung dazu im Vordergrund sein muss.
