Great Show as always. Orb looks really cool. I'm going to check it out right now.

I was impressed by the fact that I can have all my content sitting at home in a variety of formats (wmv, mpg, etc...) and then access it from a device that supports a completely different format (real player for example) and it just works.
I've been waiting for an application like Orb for a while now. I'm surrprised it works as well as it does, but I think the interface could use some work. Ah, more time for Tina to obsess over Smallville. It's an enjoyable show, but I haven't really kept up with it. It breaks from the conventional Superman script a little too often for my tastes.

... that´s definetely the way forward with media in general.
BTW, when are we going to see more of Duncan, Scott and Major Nelson??

hey matthew
yeah, we agree with you about the interface work, actually - so there's a new PC interface (full-on AJAX goodness, with all the personalization power that implies) coming in a handful of weeks and new meevee-powered TV guide coming next week!
the whole medieval-witch-possessing Lana thread in Smallville is just lame, agreed, but the rest of the deviation from the Canonical Script rocks - and bringing everyone's fave WB actor, Spike (or whatever the dude's real name is), onto the show as this Kryptonian evil guy a la the Eradicator? and having Terence "kneel before Zod!" Stamp do the voice of Jor-El?
boss.

Ah, so you're into that sort of thing. I guess the lovely ladies aren't doing it for you! No....just kidding, Max.

In the episode summary, the link to the orb website has a little too much stuff in front of it.

Smallville breaks from Superman canon more than just a little. Try a hell of a lot! For one thing Clark never wears glasses so when he eventually becomes Superman how's he gonna hide his secret identity? Lana should be a redhead, not darkhaired (though it's kinda cool that the original Lana now plays Clark's Mom). Lex was never friends with Clark when they grew up, and why isn't he smart enough to realize Clark's secret? He's always just on the cusp of guessing but if he were really so smart then he'd've realized it from the very first episode. Well, he kinda did but he's had to be dumbed down ever since.

I like the show on the one hand, but I don't see it as Superman canon since it veers so far off from that that it's more of an alternate universe Superman mythos. You know, just like Enterprise was, although I call it the "Un-Star Trek", but that's another discussion.

Yeah, I specially like your segments on gadgets, Scott´s segments so far have been just "my cup of tea" and MN is always fun and....XBOX, what more can I say!

Variety is the spice of life.

I'm currently in Europe on a university exchange and my media PC is on the other side of the world, so I've been missing my Smallville (and other shows)
. When I saw this I thought it might be just what I need to catch up on a few episodes. I downloaded and installed it, but when I tried to sign up, it wouldn't go past the page where I enter my name, email address, etc. It's probably not really a problem with Orb though, I've had connection problems with a number of things when trying to connect from this universities network. Unfortunately I don't know the language well enough to go and complain
. Anyway, I'll try to remember to try it out again when I get back home in a couple of months, but it probably won't be quite as useful to me then as it could have been now.

hey mark
funny, i was asking tina about exactly that secret-identity issue with respect to lex right before the camera started rolling
it's completely not Supes canon, i agree - and that's actually what i think's cool about it, how it throws in enough for folks like us to go, "heyyyyy, clever" and yet pulls off the Dawson's Creek Meets John Byrne Superman
part of what i love about this conversation is that it emphasizes how Orb is not about the technology - it's about having all the content you care about instantly available to you wherever you have the Net; the tech aspires to that old line that shows up in both asimov (trantorian emperor) and clarke: any tech that's not indistinguisable from magic is insufficiently advanced

hey cain
it wouldn't go past the account-creation page? send us what happened at support@orb.com so we can get this taken care of for you - though if you're not able to install the app on your MCE box, come to think of it, how will it help you get the stuff from your MCE box in the EU? maybe have someone at home do that for you? that's where the app needs to be installed, and then all you need is a Web browser and a streaming player (Win, Real, 3GP, Winamp, Flash) and you're hooked up!

nah, you da boss
kinda like in that sprint nextel commercial
maybe that should be the tagline for v2 of the product, especially if we do rename things "mycast" to bring on home the whole point of things: "you are not the boss of me!"
maybe not.

lol Ian...

I´m wary about making too many remarks about Duncan after sporting him with his shirt half off on one of my wallpapers, saying he has a nice voice, and claiming "we want more Duncan"! Thanks to that I get comments like Arztek´s.

First things first - Max, the check is in the mail and I have changed my will accordingly. While my baby daughter first objected to being renamed Max, I am confident that she will come to embrace it with time.
Secondly, as 10 evolved, it was clear that some people enjoyed being behind the scenes more than in front of the camera. It’s just the natural evolution of the beast. And speaking of beasts, I think Laura and Tina are handling things most splendidly.

Scott:
I´m sure the guys at Counts Kustoms will put it to good use.

I wait in anticipation for the check and details of your will.
Have your considered renaming your daughter Maxine? It´s not the same, but I´ll let it slip this time.
Seriously though, even though T&L are naturally talented presenters, having that extra variety that comes with yours and others contributions really makes 10 that more enjoyable. Having said that, watching how the beast evolves is equally interesting.
