I will (probably) be getting this game (and not just because of Pimps At Sea...I mean, Halo 3 beta =)

I think the game is pretty cool, I've been playing the demo a bit. I'm not positive that I'll pick it up yet though. I was definitely going to get it for the Halo 3 beta, but just yesterday I received word that I was one of the 13,333 people accepted to participate thanks to the Phase 2 'Rule of 3' program. Halo 3 FTW!

The demo is so addictive.. even if it's got a time-bomb on it. It made me go back and hit Saints Row a bit more.. if only to leave me wanting. Crackdown was a total surprise. I wasn't really anticipating this game until I played the demo.
What's cool about Crackdown to me is that it takes some of the best elements of GTA and, of all things, Hulk (Ultimate Destruction) and puts them together into a great game. If you've played HUD, you know what I mean. The orbs, the power-up, the jumping, super strength and free roaming aspects of GTA.

Crack Down! hehehe. Yeah, I think it works better as one word also.

I've been following it for a while now...at least since I heard it was coming from the creative genius of GTA and being developed by the same Scottish team that put together the Killzone demo at E305.
I downloaded the demo as soon as it was up on live, but it took some time before I really started to enjoy it through exploiting the abilities and the open world. Hazumi was right; it feels a lot like HUD, but with a unique techno cell-shaded style to it.
I'm not entirely sure if I want to get though. The demo left me wanting more, and from what I've read, so will the full game. I like the game world, but it seems a little unoriginal. A greater variety of vehicles including boats and motorcycles would have been nice and the game is just screaming for split screen co-op play.
Thanks for giving us the details and Happy Valentine's day, my goddess of gamming. All my best.

I agree. The demo was fun, but I'm just not sure I want to shell out 60 bucks for it. It's definitely better than a lot of games though. To me it's probably a great rental.

Crackdown is a rental indeed. Now GRAW 2 will be worthy of $60 I think.

A friend and I had a lot of fun (well, as much as the time limit allowed us) with the demo and I'd played through it solo and thought it might be worth picking up. It got good marks in EGM, not so much in OXM. Multiplayer could be cool and is something that I'd love to see work its way into an expansion. Side missions other than "kill the gang leader" would be great. I didn't try any races but I can see that being old after a while too. I'll be picking it up (even if it didn't have the Halo3 beta) to tide me over until GH2 drops for the 360.

I'll take a blood red boa.

Brilliant feature Tina, this game looks like it's sheer playability from the get go, will get. LS:)

*cries like a little girl with a skinned knee...
Game is so much like Carmageddon.
All that's missing is powerups (bouncey bouncey, electro * ray, afterburner).
A sequel to Crackdown could trully revive the best of Carma by expanding the minigames/races and adding ingame video capture with sick dev controls like carma... fully destructible and more dynamic environments (Think glass that breaks etc)
Since in Crackdown you can leave your vehicle that part is already head and shoudlers above Carma.. Also in the sequel playing as a crimelord would add immensely to the freedom and longevity of gameplay. Playing on the other side of the law for Cash.
It would be glorious.

This should be a great game to play coop with a griend as well. This is the beauty of the live service as coop gaming is totally the way to go. The demo was awesome, though but a taste of the game and the full release should prove to be even better. Plus, it will keep me busy until GRAW2 releases...

I picked up Crackdown last night and played some coop with a friend of mine and this game is totally worth the purchase price. We have only leveled up a little, but I can already see how intense and fun the game will be as we continue on. Even with playing the single player alone this game would be awesome, but with the coop mode it's amazingly fun and addictive...
