Thanks, Neil!    I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about the videos.  What would you like to know?  Can you clarify for us?  Are you asking about what hardware and software is used to actually create the videos or are you asking about this video in particular and how they do things at KEXP?

Obviously they are trying for "edgy". The show is cut very well for net viewing IMO. The pushpin map made me laugh: where's the Google Maps mashup??

Well, Seattle is actually a perfect place to be hosting a show about technology.

This city (and the state of WA) has contributed a HELL of a lot to art/technology for so many years, and as someone who grew up in WA, I'm personally happy to see a show that spotlights the people (no matter who they are, or what company they work for) who strive to provide entertainment through technology, by any means possible.  

I was happy to see KEXP get some recognition.

We are considering allowing everyone to edit their comments that don't currently have comments underneath them.  The problem we're trying to avoid is having someone edit a comment after a conversation has taken place about their comment.  What do you think?

What browser are you using?

MSN Spaces (like a lot of blog providers) don't allow script tags and our Blog It feature requires that.  We will be looking into how we can work with MSN Spaces to get this to work in the future.  Thanks for the feedback!

Everytime a new IE comes out,  it takes awhile for most sites to understand that IE7 will work for IE6 sites.   I wish I could keep IE6 and IE7 on the same system to ease through that period.

My brother submitted his Taxes on TurboTax.com and after IE7 was installed he could not verify his refund!    He deinstalled IE7,  used IE6, and then reinstalled Ie7

Are the videos not streamed?  It takes a long time for the video to initially come up.

Its ok but still for new users its confusing. my suggestion will be
1. When user comes to homepage video pane should be right most and the message pane be on the middle just like the any other website. that way the user will easier to navigate.

I understand using QT vid for cross platform compatability, but it makes me wonder why WMV is not positioned to be cross platform in the first place?

Why the stoppage of development for the MAC platform?  Is it a concession that QT/ITUNES is a stonewall of an obstacle on that platform?

I guess you have ot choose a standard in the end anyway...why not QT?

well, the vids work find now.  before, it would play, I'd hear audio, but the visualizations would show/play instead of the actual video.  I don't think I did anything different other than download the video and play it in WMP.  Maybe then, it automatically downloaded the codec so now it actually plays nicely in the web page?

I think the concept behind 10 is to *not* be like the "other" websites.

I don't mind, or think its needed, to move the video pane to the right. I think the advantage we have now is the ability to write and post comments at the same time the video is playing. For me this is easier where the video pane is currently.

I don't mind, or think its needed, to move the video pane to the right. I think the advantage we have now is the ability to write and post comments at the same time the video is playing. For me this is easier where the video pane is currently.

What about Penny Arcade, the on-line comic?  They are based near Seattle, right?  Could do a segment about Child's Play, the charity drive they do to get gaming tech into children's hospitals - they raised something like $600,000 this year.  And they are comedians, so it could be a good show.

Curious why you didn't have an intro for your episode (i.e.: theme music, intro of the hosts, intro to what the show is all about, etc...).  Given, you can find host bios and the shows mission statement from the on10.net site.  I would suppose you figured it might be redundant or ultimately irritating on segments of only a few minutes long to have a lead in every time.  I do feel there is an upside to a quick "Hey this is Laura and Tina from on10.net...".  If I emailed this to a friend it would seem a little disjointed, as if I sent them the middle of a larger program.  Maybe I am just holding on to an 'old media' convention.
Also are you going to have a weekend mashup linking all the shows together as one file?  I think there would be an audience for that.  A fantastic effort.  I can't wait for tomorrow's episode.

Our initial target was for windows and mac.  IE, Firefox & Safari.  We will look into getting the player to work on Linux.

Hitting pause, then play should work.  What browser are you viewing the site with?  The progress bar sliding will be coming later...

This is a common error with one of the versions of Quicktime plugin for Firefox. Reinstall the plugin or do some random fix. Googling the error should yield good results.

I wish Windows Media Player was the default for Firefox, I dont really want quicktime to play but if that works fine. I also like how the signup for the site was so fast and easy, username, email and password, very simple! The look is clean and yet very 21 century. Simple look with great "special effects".

I can't wait either. The 30 seconds timeout bug kills my ASP.NET debugging. Somehow I had the wild idea that once installed I could choose between IE6 and IE7, or that I could just uninstall it.

If you watch the video or go to the site you'll see it's Classic ASP.

I thought the focus of this channel is to show how Microsoft technologies/products are being used to change the world.  Jeff Sandquist said "10 is a place for people who want to use technology to change the world," but so far I just do not see it.  We get a really good idea of what KEXP 90.3 is doing, but there is almost nothing about the technologies they are using to get the job done.  We know they use SQL and ASP, but that is about it.  Can we get a little more in-depth analysis of what technologies the are using?  Also, can you edit the video a little differently, seems like you are trying to edit it like MTV would.

I'm listening to KEXP right now.  Thanks.  I was a little thrown when I clicked the Subscribe button and couldn't figure out what I was choosing.  No ipod, no other thing, WMV sounds like Media Player, but I wonder what happens with the feed.  Ah, no problem, it's choose your video format.  Wheww.  I thought you were gonna take over my machine or wake me up with a feed every morning.  Heh.
