The announcement is here. The one thing I object to is that only people who have education blogs can make nominations. That means that a whole lot of people who read blogs and who may be very good judges of such sites cannot make nominations. The process seems a bit like an insider's club to me.
I am sure this blog counts as an education blog and my other blog probably does as well. So I may make some nominations myself. I'll probably not nominate myself though.
But I read a lot of good education related blogs and if I can pick out a couple that deserve special attension I will make some nominations.
I wish they had subject matter catagories other than library. I realize that there are a lot of blogging librarians but what about history, math, English, and my favorite - computer science? And special education! Are there people writing good stuff for special education parents and teachers?
Wouldn't it be good to have some lists of the best blogs that focus on specific subject matter? I think that would be good if only to help support people who are sharing information in those specific subject areas. Maybe I need to start this one myself. What do you think? Do you agree that we need awards for subject matter education bloggers?
