In netbook news, Engadget is reporting there’s a $100 netbook coming to your local CVS drug store later this year. The store will soon be stocking a Sylvania PC running Windows CE, and, despite its small size, the netbook’s ad claims it will be able to stream video and YouTube.
From the looks of it, the netbook Engadget discovered could be this 7-inch, 2-pounder described in detail here on digitalgadgets.com. According to those specs, the CE-based computer includes a 1.2 GHz VIA C7-M processor, 1 GB DDR 533 MHz memory, a 30 GB HDD and 7” display. Nothing too fancy, but only $100? Guess we’ll have to wait for CVS to make this deal official.
Also according to Engadget’s report, the tiny computer will support email, web browsing and social networking too. But no other details are available.
I for one, hope this is true. It would make computers an impulse buy at checkout!
