There are a number of ways to use Bing.com’s background images for wallpaper: you can use a utility like the
Bing Downloader, access stored images via online archives like the
Bing Image Archive, or you can even grab
an official Microsoft Windows 7 theme pack of Bing’s Best. Now there’s a new tool you can add to the list:
Bing4Free. Uncovered by the
Life Rocks 2.0 blog, this app downloads wallpapers from bing.com at scheduled intervals of your choosing. You can also specify where the images are saved, how often the images are switched out, and how the images should be placed on the screen (stretched, centered, etc.). The utility isn’t just limited to the images from the U.S., either. It can grab the photos from the localized versions of Bing including China, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. And if you want to get really technical, you can manually add other regions via its config file.
Bing4Free is, as the name implies, a free download. However, the software is still in beta so all the usual “proceed at your own risk” caveats apply. You can grab the download directly from Codeplex
here.
