Do Local Searches in Live Messenger with Poynt

A new startup called Poynt is offering a way to do local searches from within Windows Live Messenger. With Poynt, you can search for local businesses and view the listings on a map, all from within your IM window. You can even search for movie listings and watch trailers!
When you first use Poynt, you set your location using a landmark, address, city, or ZIP code. Then you can begin your searches either by store name or store type or, for movies to see, you can search by theater, genre, or title. Listings are displayed on a map that opens up in an adjacent interactive window in Live Messenger.
To get started with this free service, just add Poynt to your Windows Live Messenger contact list (you need to be using IE to do this). No download is required.
