Microsoft and Chevrolet have teamed up on a unique advertising campaign for the electric vehicle the Chevy Volt. Using the Xbox 360’s new controller-free system called Kinect (formerly known as Project Natal), users will be able to test drive the Volt in the Kinect-enabled racing game “Kinect Joy Ride.” By watching a brief ad for the vehicle, users can unlock the Chevy Volt which can then be used within the Joy Ride game itself, allowing users to virtually “test drive” the car from their living rooms. “Kinect allows us to bring the excitement of the showroom to the living rooms of our customers,” says Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. Heck, it might even be more exciting, since most test drives are boring “around-the-block” adventures – certainly nothing like a racing game!
