OnStar Integrates with Virtual Earth

On Wednesday, OnStar announced a new application that integrates Microsoft’s Virtual Earth into their emergency response system. Using Virtual Earth’s 3D aerial imagery, emergency responders will be able to more accurately locate hard-to-find or rural locations. The technology will enhance the GPS data OnStar currently uses. In the event of an emergency, this extra information about the terrain and the surroundings will help save lives – especially in cases when a vehicle has gone off the road or the weather conditions are poor.
