Arik Cohen, lead program manager on the Windows Presentation Foundation (formerly known as Avalon) is one of the guys who'll be demonstrating the WPF stuff at the PDC next month. Here's a rare time when Robert Scoble did an interview in front of the camera,
Beth Goza was behind the camera. This video is a good way to prepare for your trip to the PDC, if you are coming, and gives you a good insight into what's coming in the Windows Presentation Foundation.

Back in April I saw the video with the Avalon Team here at channel9 about MediaMania and I was wondering how did they do the transparency in the order window. I've tried setting a OpacityMask to the <window> element but I can only get it black on the bottom
but it does the gradient from black (should be transparent) to the interface in the window.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've treid to contact Arik Cohen but I couldn't find his mail and his blog was empty (I think he doesn't go there much but I sent him a message)

Edit: Ok, just got a reply from Arik Cohen, here's what he said for those who want to know:

"Nick Kramer talks about this on his blog

We had just implemented the order window as another window and used

Win32 calls for the alphablending (when the window was separate). When the window was hosted inside the app -- we used the same visual tree on a Canvas element that was animated."

ps: Arik if you get to see this, I forgot to tell you to start your blog for once! I've been there, it's empty

 Greetings,
can someone help me figure out why I cannot get the WinFX components/samples to execute? I'm dying to try this stuff out.

Here is a post I made to a news group:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.developer.winfx.avalon/browse_frm/thread/19b2e017543198f4/09c6e849bf5229ea#09c6e849bf5229ea

When trying to execute code, I am getting the exceptions below. I can compile code, just not execute it. I have the Sept CTP bits installed and VS 2005 Beta 2.
