Robert Scoble - Walk to Ballmer's office

Download

Right click “Save as…”

Jeff recorded Robert getting ready for the Steve Ballmer interview. Just something fun for your Friday afternoon. Dang, I have to clean up my office. You get to see the video equipment we use here on Channel 9, and I give you a tip or two plus you get to see the cafeteria where we eat lunch every day, among other things.

ROFL!  That was awesome, I have to say that Channel9 has become the most entertaining place I go to - that was hilarious -

Scobles got a sweet office - my office is even messier than that!
  • nice tee shirt!!

Why do the videos turn upside down green?
  • Really nice video Smiley
Too bad for that Microsoft Hall of Fame not being updated though.
Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed watching it!

You see building 17? (i think it was 17'ish). It was almost as big as an airport.

    Holy NT. hehe
    Steve.

Yeah, that was 16/17 we walked through. It is a big building. My office is in 18.
  • scobleizerscobleizer I'm the video guy
That reminds me, back in Jr. High I got a tour of Apple Computer (this was 1977) back when Apple only had a single building. Their entire building could have fit into 1/4 of this building.

Amazing how far the industry has come in less than 30 years.
  • Junk filled I would call it. Mess be the voice recognition guy.

Is something wrong with your office light? It seems kind of... dark.

Yeah I work in 16 with the CMS team. Our GM worked really hard to get us in 16 instead of moving to 36 along with the other Office teams. Our building is a lot nicer with the atrium and without the 10 minute walk to the bathrooms that 36 has.

Great video.  I want to see more of this behind the action stuff.  I bet you have miles of digital scraps on the virtual cutting room floor.  I'll also bet that you could find enough goofy stuff to make a great out-take video.

Sorry to hear that the product plaques are not updated any more.

We're working on doing more of this type of video. Tell us more about what you'd really like to see from behind the scenes and we can do more of it. This type of stuff is pretty easy to do as it can be impromptu and doesn't require scheduling someone to film it.

  • Informal, educational and interesting. I really liked it Smiley

Wow - holy cow can you do that with all your videos?

When are you guys going to interview the MSN Search team?

I would give anything to see that kind of video for the MSN Search team - walking to Ken Moss's office, or Eric Selsberg's office!

Can you do a video of you guys having lunch?  Is there a sushi bar like Tibco has!

these videos are great because they counter the notions that Microsoft is evil and scary!  Show more videos of people having fun and screwing around without getting fired.

That was probably one of my all time favorite Channel 9 videos Smiley

Yes, I agree. Having some goofy vids now and then (but not all the time b/c you have to be serious too) would be kind of fun.

Holy Cow!!! Scoble, if I worked for MSN Search, would I be in the area?  I spend most of my time lately on Google Earth flying in on where I want to work - would I be in the area where we could do lunch?

thanks to Channel9, Microsoft is no longer a place that is scary but the place I want to spend all my time Smiley

Google Earth doesn't give us any info on the campus (nor does MSN Local, hopefully soon it will)

Thanks to Channel9, and Scoble, I'm on a mission to work for Microsoft.  Watch-out Google (unless they embrace C# Tongue Out ROFL)

Thanks for all the positive feedback, and to think that we were on the fence as to whether to bother posting this video or not.

As to doing more of this stuff, your wish is granted, I'll start carrying a camera with me more and we'll try and post a bit more of the impromptu stuff.

    We'll keep it balanced though.

Glad you all liked it.  It was fun to get behind the camera again.

Actually one of the most entertaining clips channel9 has. What's so great about it? You get a kind of "fly on the wall" feeling, just learning and watching what Microsoft is all about. Just everyday, what it's like, walking through campus, what kind of people do you meet, what events and places there is to go to (ala starbucks). Great clip Scoble;)
  • Ha! That was fun...
Gee Bob, you sure have come a long way since the Software Forum VBSig days in Palo Alto.

Glad to see things are going well for you.

    Go VB!
