Slides (view online)Web application developers today are facing new challenges around how to expose data and services. The cloud, move to devices, and shift toward browsers are all placing increasing demands on surfacing such functionality in a web-friendly manner. WCF's Web API makes it easy for developers to expose their services and data to a broad set of clients and to take advantage of rich emerging web standards like Web Sockets.

waiting for it...
Hi guys
I'd love to know what you'd like to see here. Current plans are to start with a hello resource type of thing and build it out throughout the talk. Along the way we can look at various different capabilities of our web api and explore what the experience looks like.
Thanks
Would like to see progression from URI tunneling, CRUD based rest to a real hypermedia-driven example and where the new API's help use. The previous Preview kit 2 was a baby step in the right direction.
@Glenn Block:that would be nice to see some insert operation with http POST (the clinet could be a console app) I remembered that some guy sent a xml file to a service url by making http post with console app and that action added the content to database. the console line code was something like below;
this little line made the magic (magic would not be the right word but
)
Also, a demo on how to securing the APIs would be great. (not kind of open source APIs but more like for e-commerce APIs. for B2B actions)
These are my requests and looking forward to talk to see what will happen
thanks !
guys, you pulled the video for some edits as far as I heard
you made me worried
get it back please... please...
OK all, I've posted the video for the time being on Vimeo here: http://vimeo.com/22504747
@Glenn Block: cool. thanks.
VectorD I know you wanted to see a hypermedia example. I intended to show a links and forms demo but there was not enough time. I will work on getting my original idea up on my blog and our codeplex samples.
Thanks
Glenn
Would be interesting to know what edits are being made and to get an ETA on when we should expect the video back?
Thanks in advance.
still waiting for the video
Video is working for me although the fast foward doesn't seem to be working. The player starts to buffer the video and never plays again. I'll just have watch from the beginning again. That Vimeo version had horrendous PQ.
One hour is not enough time to do it justice. Just keep on with the good work and blogging. Looking forward to the new API's.
