My name is Nihar Shah, and I work on the Hyper-V team at Microsoft. I have been working in the virtualization space for 8 years, dating back to my pre-Microsoft days at Connectix. Among other things, I am the lead in charge of defining and implementing the Hyper-V WMI object model.

  • Nihar,

Is there a function in WMI that will allow me to install the Hyper-V role without going through the Server Manager or servermanagercmd?

I know Win32_ServerFeature lets you query installed roles.

    Thanks,
    Abheeshta
  • Unfortunately, no.  The role must be installed via the Add Role wizard or via the command line.
