As Principal Program Manager Lead in the Windows Azure team, Drew McDaniel is responsible for leading the design and implementation of the Windows Azure compute management and runtime interfaces. These APIs are used by IT Pros, Developers and management UI, such as the Windows Azure portal, to manage Windows Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS) and Windows Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) applications. Before taking responsibilities as a program manager in Windows Azure, McDaniel was both a Program Manager Lead and a Test Manager for the Windows File Services team. In this role McDaniel managed multiple remote file system components including SMB, WebDav Client, Client Side Caching (CSC), Distributed File System (DFS) and File Replication Service (FRS). McDaniel holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He lives with his wife, Erin, and their three daughters.
