Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 includes a powerful new platform called StreamInsight for processing rich and expressive analytics over continuously arriving data. This is a central requirement in operational intelligence solutions that require a real-time view of business operations that is accurate up to the current second. Many different scenarios across industries, ranging from equipment sensor data in manufacturing to real-time risk management in financial services, can benefit from real-time operational intelligence. In this session, we will explore how StreamInsight, together with other Microsoft and SQL Server products such as Analysis Services, Integration Services and Windows AppFabric, provides you with a powerful platform for operational intelligence. You will learn how to develop StreamInsight applications in Visual Studio, and how to write queries that incorporate both persisted historical data and streaming data from online feeds. We will also demonstrate how you can use tools such as Microsoft Silverlight to build dashboards to visualize the constantly changing results from your StreamInsight queries.
