Microsoft’s deployment tools are better than ever with the new Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) 2.0. WAIK 2.0 contains the Windows System Image Manager (WSIM) to assist in creating answer files that automate your deployments, Windows Pre-Installation Environment (WinPE 3.0) to get your machines booted and connected to the network, the new Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) utility which allows you to manage your images offline (no more Package Manager (Pkgmgr) or the WinPE command-line tool PEimg). DISM supports both .wim and .vhd image formats. If you are planning on deploying 5 or 5,000 Server 2008 R2 machines this session is a must see to find out what has changed from WAIK 1.1.
