In the past few decades, data centers have remained virtually unchanged until recently. This session discusses Microsoft's key learnings as it drives disruptive ideas into its own data center operations that will not only change the landscape in data center designs at Microsoft but also change the landscape for the industry. Many examples are used to illustrate some of the key elements to this data center transformation such as, outside air cooling, efficient IT, Chargebacks and modularization. The session ends with a video of Microsoft's vision of the "Just in Time" Data center which is now referred to by the industry as the Generation 4 data center.
