Privacy is now a more pressing concern than security for many organizations, regardless of size. The loss or theft of personal information pertaining to employees, customers, or individuals can require organizations to issue data breach notification letters, and may result in penalties and fines, loss of business, damage to reputation, and even jail time for executives. Data Governance is an approach to dealing with Privacy issues, and when implemented correctly can result in improved Privacy protections, as well as provide a roadmap for Governance, Risk, and Compliance implementation and execution. This session will introduce you to the topic of Data Governance, present a simplified information lifecycle for privacy and technical framework for evaluation and implementation of controls, and demonstrate how existing investments in technology can be leveraged to improve privacy protections.
