Commercial businesses and governments are rolling out identity systems to improve their security and to provide online access to services. Current identity framework efforts (including federated identity protocols such as SAML and OpenID) do not provide the highest levels of security and may in fact erode user privacy; thus, if adopted on a large scale, society-wide, individuals and businesses could become vulnerable to automated identity theft and real-time centralized surveillance. In this session we introduce the U-Prove technology and describe how identity infrastructures can resolve these security and privacy challenges. We also illustrate how the U-Prove technology integrates into AD FS 2.0, Windows CardSpace2.0, and the Windows Identity Foundation, as part of the U-Prove Community Technology Preview. Furthermore, we present a demo of a U-Prove-enhanced eID information card.
