This breakout session looks at what can go wrong with some of the core modalities of Lync Server 2007 R2 such as IM/Presence and Conferencing,and how to determine and resolve those issues. We provide an overview of the Lync Server architecture and how it interacts with the different components in an environment with DNS,Load Balancers,Certificates,and Firewalls. We can also explore the tools that can expedite Lync troubleshooting immensely like validation cmdlets,snooper,logger,and many more. In addition we provide common Lync Server deployment and operational scenarios that might occur and look into the diagnostic reports and logs that will uncover potentials issues. The following are just a few areas that we cover in the session: Federation issues,external users not able to connect to the internal environment,validation of the correct ports needed for remote and internal access Web Conferencing,and IM functions.
