@kettch: I believe downloadable maps were announced for WP8. This is one of the features brought over by the Bing/Nokia migration.
So, the issue is mostly one of interface. I can understand that, just don't agree. I really like Nokia Drive. However, there should be a choice. On the 800 they were separate apps, and if I didn't like Nokia Drive I could have stayed with Bing Maps (and the horrible "click to get voice navigation"... shudder). If that's changed with the new Nokia WP8 phones, that is indeed bad, even if I prefer Nokia Drive. OEMs should add to the experience, not replace it.
