Hi there,
1) Just curious, how many people who reads this forum have this book?
2)
I had seen many advertisement on this book.
I am impress with it at first. After getting that book, I was kind of depress.
The problem is I do notice that there is only 1 chapter in that book that is related to .NET (Chapter 18). I was hoping a "Writing Managed Secure Code".
Will Microsoft released a newer version of this book?
Thank you. ![]()

I have this book, but haven't had the time to actually read it

If you're looking for security related best practices for .NET related technologies, I find the Patterns & Practices publications really helpful. Most, if not all, of these books are free to download from the web. You can find the entire set here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/practices/default.mspx
If you go to the Viewpoints on the left side, you'll notice that each section has it's own Security sub-section.

My friends has this book, I didn't read it though.
If I remember it correctly, I do believe there is a book that covers .net, but I just don't remember tha name. I mean for security. -
I've read the book and I can really recommend it. There's not much .NET coverage, but it's worth a read anyway, because a lot of principles and practices are adaptable to .NET code, too or are independant from actual code. Additionally you might have a look at "a .net developer's guide to Windows security"

It's not yet released, but you can read parts of it online.

I've got the version 2.0 of this book and I'd recommend it. There are some chapters you can just skim if you are only writing managed code but the appendix, "ridiculous excuses we've heard", is worth the price of admission.
