I'm sure this has probably been covered before...(maybe?)
But where did you hear about Channel 9 from?
I for one found this "gem of a website with such lovely people", from Scobles Blog after the Team99 announcement on NeoWin.

Scoble and I were chatting on IM a few days before, and he gave me the URL. I caught it a few hours before launch when it accidentally launched. Been here, off and on, ever since. -
I found out about it from a link in the 'Communities' section of the MSDN homepage.

For me it was http://bink.nu

I began to wonder what all of the talk about Channel 9 on blogs.msdn.com was about.
-
I was standing around the water cooler and someone came up to be, tapped me on the shoulder and whispered in my ear - "Did you hear that Microsoft is opening a community site?" - I responded - "The evil empire" - and they responded - "Yes, they want to bribe us into loving them..." -- so I checked it out and after some brain washing I was 'in'.

I heard about Channel9 from one episode of 2004 DotNetShows, when Erica Wichers announced that Microsoft gonna launch Channel9 primarily focused on the interaction between devs and Microsoft, I thought that this is just the right place for me:p

A friend told me, I forgot to join, and then I forgot the domain name, then the same friend sent me a link to that thread by Obane, I found that after searching around Channel 9 that it was an interesting place, I joined, and I have been on every day since apart from when I have not been on a PC.

MSDN has a small Channel 9 link near its links for blogs.msdn.com and other things. That's where I found Channel 9.

I think the first post on Slashdot in regards to it. Don't know how much i've actually helped out w/ things here. But I've learned a lot.
Slashdot Story -
I found it by following a link posted in Beta News.

I heard from a journalist friend named Joris Evers about the longhorn group that was being put together and that I should look at it. Well here I am now and what a great place to hang out.
-
the day it went public

I can't remember exactly which website had the link I followed to channel9, but it was from a news item about Microsoft's plans to restart development of IE. There was a link to a Channel9 thread where I believe the topic was what features people wanted to see in IE7.

If you look up PackRat in the dictionary, you'll get an idea of what my hard disk looks like. I use content browsing software I've written my self. In trying to add "user input"/ idea exchange to this madness, I went looking for something I could "Embrace and Extent".

This was how I found OpenWiki. From there I found FlexWiki, and this led me here. -
some one mentioned it over on the community server forums
