You have too much time on your hands
...can we see about converting that list to a table, btw?

When does the name of someone editing a wiki come up in the version list and when not?
-
Wow thanks for that!

Wiki wrote:Orcas > VS.NET 2005 for Vista
Im not quite sure about this.
As far as i understood on a video Scoble(I think it was) did with a guy that is planning Orcas, is Orcas really the Visual Studio that comes after Whidbey. Not a version for Vista!
Another thing:
- Rainier > Visual Studio .NET
- Everett > Visual Studio .NET 2003
- Whidbey > Visual Studio .NET 2005
- Whitehorse > VS.NET 2005 Design Tool Suite
- Burton > Visual Studio 2005 Team System
- Orcas > VS.NET 2005 for Vista
- Rainier > Visual Studio .NET
- Everett > Visual Studio .NET 2003
- Whidbey > Visual Studio 2005
- Whitehorse > VS.NET 2005 Design Tool Suite
- Burton > Visual Studio 2005 Team System
- Orcas > Visual Studio 200x(Most likely 2007)
Micrsosoft changed the name from Visual Studio.NET, to Visual Studio in the 2005 verison.
Also. Isn't Blackcomb the server version of Vista? Im actually quite sure about that
Indigo is also called WCF! And i dont think that WinFX is a codename

It won't come up if they've logged in via passport.Shrage wrote:When does the name of someone editing a wiki come up in the version list and when not?
Mary Jo Foley of Microsoft Watch keeps a codename list updated for subscribers. If I have time tomorrow I'll see how the two lists compare
-
Cleaned it up a bit, removed duplicates, etc.
Good job!
-
I slapped in Katmai (Acadia) and Rossetta.
When I was at MSN UK we used the names of London "squares", so the version I was working on was Berkley.
The internal CMS tool had version names of great disasters, Titania and Vesuvius

I've watched Jeremy type... it's kinda scary...Shrage wrote:You have done a wonderfull job! how meny WPM do you type? and how meny Things Per Minute does your brain spill out?

I thought "Orcas" was the Windows Installer MSI editor for VS2005.

W3bbo wrote:I thought "Orcas" was the Windows Installer MSI editor for VS2005.
That's Orca. And it's from the Platform SDK, not VS.
-
Don't you guys think we should keep the current code names seperate? (things that gets currently converted to normal names, or new technologies)
-
W3bbo wrote:I thought "Orcas" was the Windows Installer MSI editor for VS2005.
The Windows Installer Editor name is Orca, no?
Edit: This is a duplicate, this thread is growing quickly -
jonathan did you roll back and mess it on purpose because we're not supposed to know some?

Nope - I was alphabetizing the list at the same time you guys were making edits, so when I hit submit it overwrote themblowdart wrote:jonathan did you roll back and mess it on purpose because we're not supposed to know some?
