Hey all.
A little while ago i started playing with windows pe. After a while i decided that it wasnt powerfull enough to do what i want, and then i found Windows XP Embedded.
After finding XP Embedded it was really hard to find tutorials and stuff to help with what i wanted to do with it. After two or 3 months of research i finally managed to get XPe to boot from a cd.
So i decided to make a tutorial for other people to get kickstared with XPe.
heres the link:
http://chrishemple.co.uk/tutorials
It's allredy had 500 downloads in 2 days, so it seems VERY popular.
I hope it helps people to make there own XPe images, and yes, it will work with the XPe trial! =D
Thanks!
Christopher Hemple

What in the world is 'windows pe'?
-
That is very cool. This is the first tut like this I have seen online. Good job. Add one more download to your list :-]

I've checked my stats and its has over 900 downloads. I've earnt like $60 from ads on my site in 2 days!
- Not bad for a 16 year old!
Windows PE is Windows Preinstallation Enviorment, it is based on XP/2k3 and can be booted off a cd.
It's what boots when XP Setup goes into GUI mode. PE Is very limited, such as it reboots after 24 hours and has a limit of 6 processes, with XP embedded you can have a full os.
Hope it helps,
Chris. -
Where can I get Windows PE? Does it boot and run like the popular Linux Knoppix CD?
Thanks,
Bob -
Windows PreInstallation Environment is the graphical setup you see in Longhorn. At the moment it's not publicly available and is only for OEM's and big company's with Software Assurance. It will be included in the next version of Windows (Longhorn).
WinPE is not meant to replace a full OS, it's only to install an operating system and to partition/format your hard drive. -
Methinks $60 wont get you very far in the courts where Microsoft's lawyers are going to take you!
