Hey all, I've seen the Channel 9 Dude modeled in ZAM 3D here and there. I made another rendition of the guy with ZAM 3D, recorded the process and then made a time lapsed video with it.
You can check it out here:
MOV - http://www.erain.com/misc/channel9.asp (13 mb - 1 min 41 sec)
WMV - http://www.erain.com/misc/channel9-wmv.asp (13 mb - 1 min 41 sec)
It originally took me 15 min to make the Channel 9 Dude (although he's not modeled entirely correct)
After I created it in ZAM 3D I exported / copied it out to XAML and then used it in Expression Interactive Designer (Sparkle). I would have placed it within Visual Studio but I didn't have the video capturing program on that machine to record it.
Thought you guys might find the process to be interesting.
You can download the Beta of ZAM 3D
HERE if you want to.
Hope you enjoy, Cheers!!!!

You have serious skills. Very nice job. I doubt I'll ever be able to do that...
-
Nice job, Jim! I love the speeded up effect of the video as well

Very nice demo!
While we're on the subject of ZAM 3D what's up with the PDC videos? Whenever I click on the "PDC" videos here all I get is the video controls, the sound and a big white space. Is this just me or are the videos broken (if they are they've been broken for quite a while)? -
Cool video Jim, all it needs is some Benny Hill style music.

Actually I have a question, seeing as you have used Sparkle, how much overlap is there between it and ZAM 3D? Do you see them as competing or complimentary products? -
Aah, you make it look so easy.

all i get is a broken image graphic - browser says "Done"

Crap, sorry Irascian. Those video are Flash Videos. They require the Flash 8 player. I should have Quicktime versions up there shortly.
Sorry, we got video formats flying all over the place.

Can't say I've used it a whole lot but ZAM 3D is definitely a 3rd party application. It is primarliy designed to allow users to model and animate their 3D elements. Eventually, we hope to have the ability to apply code to the 3D elements. Maybe even drag and drop code such as an Arc Rotate Code Snippet.
But in the end, it is still designed to plug into Visual Studio and/or Sparkle.
Again, sorry about all the crazy video formats.

Very nice ad

One of the better videos I have seen on c9.

Can you please upload a .WMV version of this?

Sorry about the quality of the WMV's. I'm somewhat new to exporting .WMV files.
Can anyone suggest a good converter program or method for converting files to .WMV? -

General Dodonna: The approach will not be easy... you're required to manuver straight down the 9 Guy's head, and skim the surface to this point. The target area is only two meters wide. -
Wow, it's a first class demo, it seems that the whole 3D processing is so easy, but in actuality, it's realllllllllllllllllllllllllly difficult:c

I don't know how to say it any better than Jamie. Wow.
