I moved to the Seattle area from South Florida in September when I joined Microsoft.
I haved traveled here a lot over the last 5 years. Overall the place actually gets just over half the rain that Florida gets and less than Washington DC, Boston and many other places.
Here are some numbers that I found...
| City | Seattle, WA | Miami, FL |
| Annual Precipitation Average | 36 inches | 60 inches |
| Days with Precipitation | 153 | 131 |
| Clear Days | 71 | 76 |
Seattle seems to have a reputation for rain because it has a long rainy season. The rain I have seen tends to be more constant but produces less rain than I am used to. I consider most of it drizzle. Florida is more prone to sudden, violent storms that produce a lot of rain in a short period of time but then move on quickly. The first 3 weeks I was here in September & October I did not see a drop.
It also does not get very (relatively) cold or hot, I saw snow here on one trip but locals tell me that occurs, at most, a few times a season.
