I bet you still can't pause a movie, close the application, open the application and resume from where you left off. Or pause, watch a video stream, reload the original video and continue? Or re-sync the video and audio if there is a second delay between one or the other...
In my opinion MOST video player applications suck on the PC today (read as: all of them do). I am still waiting for some competition to push everyone to innovate but it looks as if I'm waiting in vain....

Woah, that's cool and much nicer.
Though, I saw different, better(imo) screenshots of WMP11.
I like how the sound control panel displays the inputs and the outputs of sound in the system.
Looking good.

Those screenshots aren't so different from each other. The top bar and bottom bar layout (but not the style) are pretty much the same. And obviously, the two screenshots aren't showing the same "tab" of WMP.
I notice the screenshot is 5231, which MS has confirmed they're trying to get out as the next IDW build for beta testers. It's not out yet though, and something might still come up which might lead us to get some other build. -
Nifty, I like it.
It matches the Windows Vista "look and feel" and isn't too ugly.
I'm not sure about the huge controls at the bottom though, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

It's probably a move to make WMP more easily controllable on a Tablet PC. It's also kinda similar to WMP10 mobile:

I prefered WMP6 for PocketPC instead. That had the best UI overall:

Media Player Classic can save a bookmark inside a movie file, returning to the specific location - pretty cool. Still can't have two movies loaded at once, one playing and one paused. AFAIK, anyway. -

Mv2player can and it can also easily add subtitles -
i dont like it, too much going on, do you really need that much real estate to play a damn mp3!?!
edit: visualizations are retarded in concept, remove them!
edit 2: hmmmm remember how you guys used ribbons in office, why not use ribbons in media player? if you are playing an album have certain buttons show up, if you are playing a movie have other buttons show up, basically keep a minimalistic approach is what im saying. you do not need that huge window in order to show your playing an mp3 by the blah blah blah and the song title is blah blah blah. -

I never do understand why people call to remove features that they can, very simply, not use. No-one's making you use them, you know.
I don't like visualizations - or anything else taking up screen space - when I'm playing music while working on my PC. That's why I use Winamp.
I DO like them, as well as having a big application with big buttons - when playing music on my living-room PC (I wouldn't dignify that aging hunk of metal by calling it a "media center") hooked up to the TV. That's what it's there for.
EDIT: Shmuel, could you edit your post and change the image to a link, or put it in a DIV or something? It's screwing up the page.
Adam/Charles: How about automatically wrapping IMGs larger than, say, 800x600 with a scrollable DIV?

The user interface is nice, but I really wanna see some back-end improvements: pluggable interfaces so WMP can "properly" support formats like .ogg, .ogm, .mov and .rm with third-party plugins.
I mean *real* support, too, like plugins being able to make WMP register itself with those file formats, play them properly, know how to convert them to supported formats for portable audio/video devices using WMP's sync feature...
The Next Generation (doo doo da doo!)

I like Windows Media Player 10 but I dont standardize on Windows Media Products and unless I can deploy WMP 11 on Windows 2000 thats not going to change. I like my users to be uniform and to use the same product. I standardize on the quicktime format for wjhat limited multimedia we do. Netscape 8 is the winning web browser on all of our desktops. Microsoft wants to be hard headed and try to force upgrades like IE 7 and WMP then hey, excuse me for not using your product. If Microsoft is treating Windows 2000 users like this now then it will come a time they will treat WinXP customers the same, by 2010 Windows Vista will also be a memory.

I think some of Larry's stuff is in this build.

Don't be silly now, Larry claims that all of his stuff is in Longhorn Beta 1. Darned if I (or anyone else) can find it. Maybe he meant this next build, that no one has, when he said Beta 1. -

Won't WMP work with any format for which a DirectShow filter is installed in the system? I think Apple and Real refuse to make DirectShow filters for .mov and .rm, and OSS devs refuse to do the same for .ogg. Am I wrong in thinking this? -
Nice:p

The plumbing for the new audio stuff is in Beta1, the UI isn't.
And that's not the UI I helped with
