the MSDN subscription is cost RMB26800($3350), so how can I persuade my boss to sub the MSDN, the reasons must good for our company, not a developer only.

It is much cheeper than hiring another employee.

Does your company develop solutions for any of the following?:
Commerce Server 2002 (Developer Edition); Exchange Server 2003; Host Integration Server 2004; Application Center 2000 (Developer Edition);BizTalk Server 2004 (Developer Edition); Content Management Server 2002 (Developer Edition); Identity Integration Server 2003 (Enterprise Edition); ISA Server 2004; Microsoft Operations Manager 2005; Office Live Communications Server 2005;SharePoint Portal Server 2003;Speech Server 2004; Systems Management Server 2003; Axapta 3.0; CRM 1.2; Great Plains 7.5; Microsoft Business Network 1.0 Professional; Navision 4.0; Small Business Manager 7.5; Solomon 6.5.
If not, maybe you don't need the Premium MSDN and could get by with the much less expensive MSDN Pro($800).
Does your development team consist of serveral devs with well defined full time roles such as tester, architect, and developer? Were you planning on spending $3300 (actually, there's no $3300 version, What price list are you looking at? Things have changed recently.) per developer plus $2799 for Team Server?
If not, maybe you don't need the Premium MSDN and could get by with the much less expensive MSDN Pro ($800) and some 3rd party team tools.

In Shanghai, a developer 's wages is RMB 2000 ~ 8000($250 ~ 1000) a month, In our company, I think no one is able to get RMB 5000 a month, except project managers and boss.

Yes, it is.
MSDN Subscriptions (Universal, Enterprise, professional , OS , library)
-
I am still not sure if this is true. But from what I heard you can only purchase Visual Studio Pro or Team Editions by getting MSDN.Scratch that, I found pricing.
FDB -
If your development team consists largely of .NET developers, then MSDN Pro would be very helpful. You'll get the newest versions of Visual Studio, get to test software before it's released, etc. If you don't need all those fancy servers, then go with MSDN Professional.
-
See the subscription comparison chart.
What you get is basically a load of Microsoft software licensed for development and testing only. The exception is Office, which can be used by a single user (per subscription licence) for business purposes. You should have one licence per developer. The subscription also includes a small number of free support incidents.
We're part of the Empower programme which, for a much lower fee, gets you five licences of (when we joined) MSDN Universal (although the normal free support incidents are not included). I don't know whether Empower runs in your country. -

This kinda translation is a typical example of how bad translation can screw up the whole meaning of an Engish language word.

Yes. That's why I "orz" to it.
In English, the word "Universal" gets me the clear concept of "everything is included". But the direct translation of "Universe"(宇宙) seems can't help me relate to that idea.
They should have chosen a better name for it. <g> -
You should be able to buy it much chepaer.
Order it in the US, I'm sure there are online stores where you can buy copies suitable for China. -

our development team consists largely of VC++ developers, and three ASP.NET developers.
the price is not the primary problem, I just need a list(reasons) to describe why our company needs the MSDN subscription, and it's worth the price.
for example:
hi boss,
1.
2.
....
that's why our company needs the MSDN subscription, it's really good for us.
best wishs,

What this means is that you cannot sell the cd/DVD's that come with the MSDN Package..
Say for instance.. Microsoft Server WorldDATAr Expanded editition is in the MSDN Universal package.. this software retails for say.. $8000/cpu unit and you pay $3000 for the MSDN package that includes it.. You can't just pull out that CD/DVD and then sell it for $5K .. The software is provided so you can test your applications on a real piece of the software. Which then enhances the MS Server WORLDDATA product..
You cannot sell previous versions of the product either.. i.e. last years disk set to help pay for this years disk set.
It is meant only for Test/Developement work.. so that you can test YOUR software in a real world environment

Well, depending on what software you need, you can save money. I don't know the specifics, but generally buying a decent subscription instead of four or five separate software packages is the break even point (correct me if I'm wrong).
