It's hard to see how desktop search can cause network issues for Outlook, but ...never say never.javagirl1965 said:Windows Desktop Search does display in Add/Remove Programs. It took me a while to find it. And I believe this may be the sole issue with our users calling saying they are getting the pop up box about network issues in Outlook. I believe we will be sending an uninstall packet or manually uninstalling from all our machines. It's name in Add/Remove programs is Windows Search 4.0.
However, far more likely is actual networking issues or problems with an exchange server.
I've seen situations where somone unplugging their notebook from the network has caused everyone connected to that particular switch to be temporarily disconnected, and people's outlook say that it's lost connection with the exchange server... and then reconnect a few seconds later. It took us ages to track it down to an older model HP switch that simply didn't like people disconnecting in a certain manner.
FWIW: I removed Desktop Search 4.0 from our network, simply because the install base is older equipment, and the indexing was killing the performance... but this problem is common to all similar index/search programs on our older machines.
