As mentioned in the "What do you want to see" thread - What are you working on, a place to post and show what you are doing - without self promoting in coffeehouse
well obviously this is in the coffeehouse cause there isnt a "what your working on " forum
so .. if you dont wish to read on please stop
otherwise -
im re-doing my old sites as they had no rss - here is the first draft:
*each page/section has its own subscribe feed)
www.grininc.ca
- built with betaparticle .asp web log software ( free - google it)
- created 6 rss enabled sections:
grin see hear speak me family
- www.grininc.ca blog homepage
- www.lionshare.ca design homepage
- www.songblogs.com music homepage
- www.gnuarts.com community homepage
- www.jamiegrant.com bio stuff
- www.jgrant.com family stuff
every page / section is rss enabled - there are actually 6 instances of the same blog software mentioned above - only with the login-css files moved to root for one step editing control
Firefox sucks: all of this works in firefox - but the character leading ive used in frontpage displays incorrectly in FF - as does the slideshow timing, and other small things (sorry for using ie for everything)
This is no where near done - but i liked the idea of posting what your doing for feedback on c9 - yes yes not in the coffeehouse - but maybe they could make a new forum for it
back to work...
(what are you working on? post it here until c9 dudes make us a forum for it)
edit: if you think its ok to post stuff like this in coffeehouse without a new forum say that as well ....

I think it'd be nice to have a forum where you can post your work in progress and get some feedback on it. Right now I'm in the requirements gathering stage of an ASP.Net website. It's basically a way for me to get familiar with ASP.Net and .Net 2.0 while creating something that I can use in the future for group projects.
It's basically the same general idea as BaseCamp by 37Signals. I haven't used BaseCamp, but it seems like a really good system for project management. It'd be nice to build a system like this so that I can learn, and also so that my group projects won't be orchestrated by emails flying between group members resulting in multiple versions of the code.
So I've got this on the go, as well as the many other projects that I start-up and never finish because another school assignment comes up. I'm rather motivated for this project though and intend to start the implementation immediately after my final exam for this semester. -
cool
i imagine the only "rule" should be:
a) uses some sort of ms tech and
b) is built/designed by/ about you ( ie; not stuff for your own clients)
? -
Sounds good to me. This would alleviate any potential NDA breaches... although that'd be unlikely anyways. Requiring some form of Microsoft technology would prevent personalize Linux software solutions from flooding the forum.

About A, does Visual C++ 2k5 count as MS tech? Because the language wasn't made by them.

hey dont ask me

if ms makes it sure i guess
* i used frontpage for all the above - FP rules! -
hi jamie this might sound simple thing to ask but here goes
how can we make those breadcrumb's especially like the one in ur design site with some effect like glass . is there any software or just any picture editor -
Two new web sites and a revamp of the ex wife's business web site to asp.net 2.0
Plus the stuff I actually get paid for of course.

Well once I find a free, good, ASP.NET 2.x suported host, I will begin making an application that is the same as Flickr really. I have never used Flickr myself, but this web application will hopefully have some simple resizing and possibly cropping tools for the user. Also you hopefully will be able to use a C# application on another machine to download, and rename all the files to a certain directory on the computer. I am making the application for myself as I thin it should be useful on holidays so I can store and publicize pictures, and also have the option of keeping them online, or downloading and purging them from their server. My main problem is finding the host at this point in time.
This is a great thread, I like reading about what people are doing at this moment in time.

I?have recently relaunched my blog at a new url (http://denis.blogging4fun.com) and am currently working on a redesign (http://www.blogging4fun.com/blog.jpg) which I hope to finish next week.

Me? The contact import/export manager for this;

I cant show the full app as yet as the designer wants to keep hush
Heres some of my non NDA'd work on the manager (complete with programmers art)

The management process is about halfway done (it just needs to call up each module that it needs) I'll resume that once ive got VCard done (the only file format that has made me swear more times than any other programming task) -

I get DNS Resolution Failures and/or TCP SYN timeouts on all of those.

As for me...
Adding RSS support to Insecticide, creating a design for PlanetBattletech.com, and doing some A-Level coursework.
-
Myself...
Writing some modules to intergrate some of our beta software into some of the tools we use as well as writing an XML parser to take a certain class in a website and use PHP to rip that content...then parse it out to a RSS feed.
OK, I avoided using the two words I'm not allowed in a sentance so I should be good, but I can't show any of it because it is still in Beta. -
I am learning C#, C++ and trying to understand how a Web Service shoul be implemented... Hard for an old guy to keep his pace with technology.

Interesting application Gizmo. What are you using for the UI? Is it just Windows Forms, or is it WPF? I was looking around Visual Studio to see what you might have used for the title strips but I couldn't find anything. How did you make the title strips like the one used for 'Smart Groups'?

Edit: It just occured to me that it might just be an image... -

Mazie unplugged my router - they should work now -
I Was working on this: A quake 3 model loader:
The desktop is a screenshot of a quake 3 map loader (It had gotten much better and was textured and had bumb mapping):
All this was done in C++ with OpenGL for graphics, SDL for setting up a window and getting input so everything would compile on Windows and Linux without having to rewrite a single line of code.
But my harddrive crashed and now I have started working on a 2D sidescroller deathmatch time game but I am only in the planning stages and havn't started coding yet. -
Can't show, but its exciting!
