Well my question to BG at the launch (VS2005) was going to be 'What would it take before you would consider putting the .Net framework onto the XBOX 360?'. I didn't make it to the Partner launch so I don't know whether the question got asked.
There is some awesome hardware there, and with the new Graphics system (sorry I can only remember the beta name - Avalon) it might be possible to write some pretty kewl stuff.
I know this has been considered and rejected but even so ...
[Thread title edited - enough of the misleading stuff, ok? jonathanh]

Well it got your attention!

I have my xecuter 3 modchip and a 300GB hd sitting in a drawer. As soon as I get my xbox 360, i'll be turning my old xbox into a media centre / linux box that can run my mono apps. Sweet.
And change the thread title. -
You must also be the guy who goes "Hello? Hello? I'm not home right now..." on your answering machine.Ian wrote:Well it got your attention!
Thinking more about it, I'd say .Net would most likely be used for Arcade Live games and not real AAA games. In that case, you wouldn't want to download the entire CLR for each game. So you'll have to burn it into on-machine flash memory. I wonder how much the Xbox has. Perhaps a subset of the CLR.

Except for Arcade Live Flash would be a better option. Of course getting MS to admit that .... -

Itchy trigger finger?
:D
I have an idea...
- Set up my own private podcast rss feed on a secured webserver.
- Be able to add links to media and torrents (legal of course!) from a browser anywhere, as I come across it on the web (i.e. in work)
- Have an aggregator running on the xbox, periodically check the rss feed.
- Automatically download the links to the media and torrents.
- Automatically launch bittorrent client for the torrents.
- Come home, flip to media centre mode, and enjoy!

And next time you "get my attention" with a misleading thread title, it'll be locked or deleted. So don't do it, ok? -

You will probably find somewhere if you look hard enough that you NEVER actually own a PC/XBOX/Media Center you are just paying for the use of it and that any time they reserve the right to switch off your windows or monitor you from afar...
its just another system of control

To my knowledge, EULAs have never been upheld in court.
Besides, I usually bypass them anyway.

Still, Blizzard is hardly the most ethical of games companies... I doubt any of them are once they get snapped up by the big-time publishers.

Microsoft will send the tactical squad to beat down your door. They regularly remotely spy on your hardware config in their products.
Or didn't you know. As soon as you MS product is connected to the net, they'll start flagging your solderless actions.
To them it's a rental.
Excepting:
a) The legality of modchips is highly questionable, at least here in the US and Canada.
b) Microsoft rightly doesn't want you screwing around with their hardware, as they don't want you doing anything that will possibly allow you to cheat on say Xbox Live. Just fire up any pc game, and you'll almost certainly find a cheater. Ut2004 comes particularly to mind, with all of the aim-bots and speed-hacks that I've seen on it. This is really the main reason for their dislike of modchips, and rightfully so.
c) Microsoft doesn't want you modding your Xbox, and then coming whining to them that it doesn't work anymore.d) Find any commercial game or software product that doesn't state that you only own a license to use it, and not the actual game itself. You actually read those eula's that you agree to, don't you?
Besides, this is a total non-point, as I don't recall ever hearing of hardware not being actually owned by the end consumer who purchases it.
